House & Garden Colours 1957
paint chart

House & Garden Magazine, publisher, 1957

This is a paint chart produced in 1957 by House & Garden magazine. When fully opened, the samples fan out to form a circle. The strong, bright tones of the paint chart are very different to the autumnal colours that were popular in the 1930s – 40s. Magazines such as House & Garden helped to make these modern colours popular among British consumers in the 1950s.
