Ideal Home magazine was first published in 1921 and features articles on domestic life, home decoration and related advertisements. Regularly featured subjects include lighting, heating, the Ideal Home exhibition, the latest gadgets, mondernising the home, decoration, furniture, types of houses, radios, gardening and cooking. As articles are often illustrated with photographs, Ideal Home is a good reference for period room sets and the advertisements often give an idea of the language and gender roles of a specific time.
MoDA holds bound and unbound editions of the magazine from 1921-1923, 1931-1939, 1949-1956 and 1966-1982 (incomplete), as well as Ideal Home Garden Plans 1930.
