designed by Silver Studio, 1893

This design is a strange mixture of Western and Japanese motifs. The vertical pattern at the side show that it was probably a design for a curtain or tablecloth. It combines almost naturalistic floral shapes with motifs from Japanese 'katagami' stencils. Designs like this one show the huge influence of Japanese ideas on Silver Studio designers in the 1890s.
