designed by Churton, John,
Silver Studio, 1934

This design was created by John Churton, one of the Silver Studio’s designers, in 1934. Churton specialised in the bold geometric, Modernist-inspired designs for woven textiles and carpets that were becoming popular in the 1930s. This is a striking design for woven fabric in a bold orange colour. It features strong arrow-like geometric shapes with a background of diagonal meandering lines and circular motifs. The overall impression is of vitality and movement.
