designed by Napper, Harry,
Silver Studio, 1896

This is a design for a textile probably designed by Harry Napper for the Silver Studio in 1896.The pattern uses stylised poppies and buttercups in a loose repeating design. In the late nineteenth century, designers adapted stylised Art Nouveau patterns to British tastes by using shading to give a more familiar, naturalistic look to flowers and plants.
