The designer of this cover has displayed both sides of the books subheading, 'Beneficial and Mischievous', through illustration. Magpies have a reputation for being mischievous, stealing shiny objects and featuring in the superstitious nursery rhyme. But here, the idea of the thieving magpie is turned around as this cover shows the magpie's caring side as it feeds its young.
